What is the Giving Tree Learning Center?

  • A multi-age, outdoor-focused, child-driven community where kids gather together to develop friendships and a love of learning.
  • Our “teachers” are guides who facilitate the learning process using the Socratic method to ask questions and develop kids’ critical thinking skills.
  • Afternoons focus on extracurricular activities including chess, art, foreign language, and music/music theater.
  • Kids experience hands-on science through partnerships with Herring Gut Coastal Science Center, Merryspring Nature Center, and Chewonki.
  • A one room schoolhouse located in a beautiful old barn in Camden, ME with plenty of room to roam outside, including an old apple orchard.
  • Kids are registered as homeschoolers leaving parents in control of each child’s learning.
