Ning Sawangjaeng

Ning is excited to be the founding Lead Guide at Giving Tree Learning Center. Ning received two bachelor’s degrees, one in Science from Naresuan University, Thailand, and the other in Elementary Education from the University of Maine, Orono. She started her teaching career in public schools and spent most of her teaching years at the Children’s House Montessori in Camden before becoming a realtor. Ning holds a Montessori Certification from the Northeast Montessori Institute and has been involved in the school community by being a board member and vice chair at CHMS over the past two years. Ning also has a mindfulness teaching certification.

Having moved from Thailand twenty years ago, Ning is proud to call Maine home. The more she travels, the more she realizes how much Maine has to offer, especially in nature. Having owned and run an organic farm for almost ten years, while raising her young children, led her to believe in the importance of nature-based education and the positive effect it has on a child’s learning process and growth. Ning believes that education should never be limited to the inside of a classroom or a textbook. Children should never be tied to a desk, in contrast, children should be given a lot of opportunity to move about, learn and explore the outside world. 

Ning lives in Lincolnville with her husband, two amazing teenagers, two cats, Buddy the dog, and 15 chickens. Ning hopes to bring her experience with Montessori teaching, farming, and Mindfulness practices to the learning center as well as to create a loving, kind, and peaceful environment and most importantly to bring back the love of learning to kids’ hearts. 

In her free time, Ning enjoys gardening, bird watching, traveling, doing mindfulness practices and spending time with her family.
